Bloody Hell Lyrics Translation | Rangoon

Rangoon's first song is here. Vishal's Music. Gulzar's lyrics. Sunidhi's singing. And every one of them top-notch. In case of any doubt, refer to the line 'usne do aankhon se mera naam liya angrezi mein...' :)

bloody hell!

I the walking,
walk-walk-walk
He the talking,
talk-talk-talk
main boli good good morning,
good morning, good morning,
aji haath pe rakh di usne ring
ring ring ring, golden ring,
are round round haan round round
main chakkar khaa gayi tezi mein
no no sorry sorry karte karte
ishq kiya angrezi mein
khullam khullaa do hoThon ka
jaam piya angrezi mein
baji ek bell tring tring,
bloody hell!

I was walking, walk-walk-walk,
He was talking, talk-talk-talk,
I said good morning,
he kept the ring on my hand,
a golden ring.
suddenly I was so dizzy (and fell).
saying no and sorry,
We fell in love, in English.
and openly he drank
the glass of (my) two lips, in English.
and a bell rang, tring tring!
bloody hell!

no-no-no sorry sorry karte karte
ishq kiya angrezi mein
khullam khullaa do hoThon ka
jaam piya angrezi mein
baji ek bell tring tring,
bloody hell!

suit mein tha wo boot mein thaa
haan wo parachute mein thaa
uR jaata tha kaheen kaheen
aasmaan pe le ke zameen
maine usko chhoRa nahin
dil-vil uska toRa nahin.
phans gaya phans gaya gentleman
good man good man di laalTen,
are bound bound hum bound bound
wo crazy thaa aur lazy main...

he was in a suit and wearing boots
(that's literal, implies that he was well groomed.)
yes, he was in a parachute.
used to fly somewhere or the other,
taking the earth on the sky.
I didn't leave him,
didn't break his heart.
the gentleman got trapped.
good man, good man's lantern.*
I was bound, yeah bound,
he was crazy, and I was lazy.

usne do aankhon se mera
naam liya angrezi mein
khullam khullaa do hoThon ka
jaam piya angrezi mein

with his two eyes,
he said my name in English.
and openly he drank
the glass of (my) two lips, in English.

baji ek bell tring tring,
bloody hell!

ek chaaku thaa
bekaabu thaa,
do aankhon ka
ek jaadu thaa

there was a knife,
that was out of control.
it was a magic
of two eyes..

are haal mein phans gayi gentleman,
good man good man di laalten,
aji daayein baayein jab baayen daayen jab
hamle hue angrezi mein
girte girte usne mujhko
thaam liya angrezi mein

the gentle (wo)man was caught in the circumstances.
good man, good man's lantern,
when there were attacks left and right, by the English.
while I was falling,
he held me like the English do...

baji ek bell....
bloody hell!

* good man di laalten
is a phrase with multiple usages. One simple usage is when someone tells you something good, and you say 'good man di laalten' to express your happiness for the same. The phrase was also used as part of 'good man di laalten, bad man da diva' meaning "good man's lantern, and bad man's earthen lamp," apparently by the Indians opposing the British, calling them the good men and still asking them to return, rejecting their so-called favors. But the one that seems most appropriate here is about a blind man who used to go around at night with a lantern, just so that others could see properly, and hence was called a good man.
