Chhoomantar/ Choomantar Meaning

Chhoo-Mantar (also spelled Chhumantar or Choomantar) is a deshaj (locally originated) Hindi/Urdu word which is used for something that disappears suddenly, as if magically.

The word comes from magicians' tricks of making things disappear. The word is a word made up of chhoo and mantar where chhoo means to touch and mantar means a sacred or magical verse, something like abracadabra.

Dhunki Meaning

Normally, Dhunki is a bow for scutching/carding cotton, but here in the song of Mere Brother ki Dulhan, that doesn't seem to be the intended meaning.

Instead, it seems that the Dhunki (धुनकी) here is used for a cannon, as dhunakna (धुनकना) is used for booming a cannon.

Update: Finally asked the lyricist Irshad Kamil himself and in his own words 'Dhunki means TRANCE of love... Kind of Magical Spell,' which would mean he has taken the meaning more or less from the traditional dhunki, the bow, as that goes something like a spell, in a periodic, circular way.
