9 Superhit Songs' Singers You Probably Don't Know

We all know Sonu Nigam, Mika, Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal and Sunidhi Chauhan. But do you also know Ash King, Kanika Kapoor, and Irfan?

If not, this post is for you. Because we are going to talk about songs you hear day and night, but still somehow their singers are not commonly known faces, or even names. So what say, let's meet them?

Baby Doll — Kanika Kapoor

To tell you the truth, Baby Doll is not the only super-hit song sung by Kanika Kapoor. She has also sung Lovely in Happy New Year and recently chittiyaan kalaiyaan for Roy. Btw, this sexy voice behind Sunny Leone and Deepika and Jacqueline Fernandez is a Masters in Hindustani classical music from Benares, now based in London and wants be known as an international artist, especially in the fields of Sufi and folk music.

Locha-e-Ulfat — Benny Dayal

Benny Dayal has actually been in the film industry for quite a long time now and most of the music lovers know him. Still he is not as well-known as you would expect the singer of songs like Locha-e-Ulfat, Bang Bang title song, and Badtameez Dil to be.
Benny has sung songs across Indian languages and did sing songs for AR Rahman in movies like Jaane tu.., Yuvvraaj, Ghajini and Delhi-6.

London Thumakda — Labh Janjua

Labh Janjua is a Punjabi singer who has been there in the Hindi film industry for quite some time, singing wonderful Punjabi songs once in a while. Be it Pyaar karke pachhtaya in Pyaar ke Side Effects, Soni de Nakhre in Partner or Dance pe chance in Rab ne Bana di Jodi, he’s been rocking. His London Thumakda from Queen ruled the charts in the year 2014, and still continues to be there in every Dance party’s playlist.

Jumme ki Raat — Palak Muchhal

Know who’s the girl singing for Jacqueline in the peppy Jumme ki Raat Hai? It’s Palak Muchhal, who also sang chaahun main ya naa for Aashiqui 2 earlier. Palak has sung for more than ten music composers till now and has recorded quite a few songs for Himesh Reshammiya alone who recorded her first song as well.

Her sweet and simple voice can be easily confused as Shreya Ghoshal’s voice, something I have seen happening quite a few times.

Banjaara — Mohd Irfan

Koi mujhko yoon mila hai, jaise banjaare ko ghar.. Remember the song that goes at one pitch and then suddenly hits a much higher one? That’s a song sung by the talented Mohd Irfan, who was first given a break by AR Rahman at the recommendation of SPB, has been a favorite of many big composers of the day.

He even sang ‘Dard dilon ke kam ho jaate’ for Himesh Reshammiya, which was probably the only popular track from The Xpose, and one that many people think was sung by Himesh himself, as it was picturized on him.

Meherbaan — Ash King

Remember the all new voice in Dil gira daffatan of Delhi 6, or Bodyguard’s I Love You, or Te Amo or Aunty ji-Aunty ji? The voice that also sang Meherbaan for Bang Bang this year. But somehow despite singing such popular songs, Ashutosh Ganguly, better known as Ash King, is not such a popular name. Another singer introduced by Rahman and then used by many composers, Ash King has been on MTV Unplugged and has even been featured in a Lady Gaga single.

Kinaare — Mohan Kannan

Mohan, originally a member of the band Agnee, has sung a few wonderful songs. In fact, most of the song sung by him in Bollywood are just awesome and I personally consider his name on an album a guarantee of a good song.

I mean, consider that he’s sung Udaan’s Naav, Lootera’s Shikayatein, Queen’s Kinaare, Cocktail’s Yaariyaan, and 2 States’ Chaandaniyaa among the few songs he has sung, and you’ll know what I mean. Agree that you should know him better, right?

Jee Karda — Divya Kumar

First thing first. His name’s spelling may confuse you, but it’s Divya Kumar, which ends with an A just like many Sanskritic names do, even if they don’t end in a flat a sound. So this guy with a rocking and unquestionably manly voice is called Divya (दिव्य), and not really Divyaa like the Dutta actress.

Anyway, Divya has sung some beautiful songs like Shubhaarambh from Kai Po che, Maston ka Jhund from Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Chanchal man ati random from Shudh Desi Romance. His most popular song these days is Badlapur’s Jee Karda which is ruling the charts as of now.

Sooraj Dooba Hai — Aditi Singh Sharma

Ask me for anything, I can give you everything, raste bhula do saare gharbaar ke.. The song by Arijit Singh AND Aditi Singh Sharma is making waves these days, but as it unfortunately happens with a lot of female singers in Bollywood, she is still a lesser known face. Aditi, who started singing with Amit Trivedi’s Dev.D in 2009, has sung popular songs like chhoomantar of Mere Brother ki Dulhan, I’ll do the Talking Tonight and Raabta from Agent Vinod, Offo from 2 States, and Title song Dhoom Machale for Dhoom 3.
