A pretty tough post, took some real hard work. And here is the result. Can't guarantee it to be hundred percent right, but I've tried my best and I guess it should be more or less right.

Chakhna means to taste, it also is a salted snack

Chola Maati ke Raam meaning

Chola Maati ke ram is a song sung and composed by Nageen Tanveer in the movie Peepli [Live]. The song is not in the Hindi we use in everyday. In fact the song is in a dialect that sounds something like Awadhi, the langauge of Ramcharit Manas.

The song Chola maati ke raam is actually a bhajan, written by Gangaram Sakhet. The lines chola maati ke raam, ekar ka bharosa chola maati ke re, according to me mean that there is this statue of Lord Raam made of earth, and he's the only one who we can believe, we can rely on (in this time full of problems).

Actually in the meaning here I have not found the meaning of chola which according to me means a gown or a robe which sadhus wear. Wonder what it means here, but the lines probably have more or less the same meaning I guess.

Any suggestions with a better detail are welcome.

Update: it means that the poet is preaching that the body is a robe made out of clay (mitti) and one should dedicate their lives to Ram since he is the only hope. (Courtesy: Rohity, see comments below)

Mehngai Dayan Meaning

Sakhi Saiyaan to khoob hi kamat hai mehngai dayan khaye jaat hai..

I have been loving the lyrics of the song, Mehngai Dayan sung by Raghveer Yadav. The lines mean, "O friend, my husband earns a lot, but this witch called price-rise keeps eating it all."

The song talks of Petrol and diesel prices taking a jump every month and says that Uncle Soya bean and Sister Corn aren't well.

Similarly it takes into account many vegetables and talks of them individually one by one. A perfect song for a Keertan Mandali. Thoroughly enjoying it.

Peepli Live Meaning

Peepli means, well, nothing. In the movie Peepli [Live], Peepli is actually a village. And it's name must have been coming from some peepal tree. The Peepal tree village, Peepli.

And yes, 'Live' is about the live news coverage the village gets in the movie. And hence, Peepli [Live].
