DK Bose Meaning

Frankly, DK Bose can be a very common Bengali name and have nothing wrong with it. But then you can write it as 'Bose DK' and it would sound like a common Hindi slang Bhosdi ke.

But if you further wanna go down the intricacies, Bhosdi in Hindi means a vagina, and if it's simply taken as 'one who came out of a vagina' there would be technically nothing wrong, but then this is taken as a slang can be for two reasons. One, as I read somewhere, that being of a female origin has not been taken in history as a 'strong' thing, even though technically it would be idiotic, and another one that I could think about was because a slut can be called bhosadi wali, literally one of the vagina. There's a possibility that bhosadi ke is understood as someone born of a slut.

Either way, I believe it's better if it's used (or rather not) just as a slang and not thought about the origins of. And the song be enjoyed.

As an update I'd like to say here to those who think DK Bose just sounds like an expletive by chance or something (there are comments suggesting that), the lyricist has explicitly added the words 'Aandhi aayi' to DK Bose, making his intentions very clear. 'Bhaag bhosdi (ke) aandhi aayi' is a commonly used slang that uses the expletive.

thanx for info. I'm sure many like me didn't know what the controversy was about as we're not expert in hindi or north indian slangs. but your post at least made us aware and I now know that I can't sing this song in front of people. I'd have done it without knowing its implied meanings.thanx for the post.

The word Bhosdi is used to mean an especially large (well used) vagina.... thats why "Bose DK" is like "son of a slut"

the song sucks and the people whi appreciate it are sick..........

Anyone from North India ...correction any guy from North India knows and has heard or used this expletive ..so no big deal but I wonder about the wisdom of singing it out in public.
And what about "Ja Chudail" ...no one says anything about that ?
Again "Chudail" could very well mean the one who likes to fu** ..more like a slut. I remember it being used as such .."woh pakki chudail hai " ... the one who like lot of "Chudai" ..fu**ing ;)

who cares about swears and all??? don't we use it in everyday life.... people who are against this song are just a Hippocrates and are jealous!!!

Anonymous said...

I love that this song has a double meaning to it :D makes it even more fun to hear n sing! hahaha...brilliant movie, btw!

Actually, bhosdi is a brothel; bhosdi ke means "a man born in a brothel", or the son of a whore.

And chudail is not slang. It means "witch". It's pronounced with a hard "rh" sound, like in the hindi word sadaa (rotten).

Correction !! "Bhonsdi" does not mean a vagina, it means a BIG loosned up Vagina, like that of a whore because of over usage. Hence Bhonsdi ke (the one who came out of the Bhonsdi) refers to a someone who's mother is / was a whore

Bad explanation... Bhosdi is not "a vagina" is a FAT OPEN VAGINA.... thats why a slut is called as bhosadi wali ... Now you might get the meaning of all slangs related to Bhosadi :-) ...

Hi Guys, Its Aamir here, I am here appalled at what DK Bose means, if I knew I would not have put it in my film Delhi Belly. What can I say, other than please watch my film and buy the soundtrack so I can get more money. As you the fans, make me rich.

Thank You.

a bhosada is a pussy torn apart due to excessive fucking, whereas chut refers to vagina which still retains is original form and shape. Hence bhosadi is used referring to sluts/prostitues.

Similarly katori means a small cup which in hindi slang refers to a tight pussy, whereas kuan (well) refers to a torn & worn out vagina, where even an hand can freely move

Finally in the song the piddi jaisa chuaha, refers to a small underestimated penis, which when stroked goes to become erert and huge with a hood...hence compared to a Kala Naag...a black cobra.

that exactly was the intention of the lyricist and makers of the movie... dirty and shameless minds...

to the people who call us 'Hypocrites', let me enlighten you - we all have used some or other expletive in our lives... and our children will too... but releasing it to the public in a smart way is just being shameless...

It may surprise you to know that the origin of the phrase "Bhosadike" is, in
fact, an ancient Sanskrit greeting, "Bho sad ike?" meaning, "Sir, are you
well?"

'Bho' is a term used for respectful greeting, similar to 'Aho!'
Brahmins will know it since it is also used in the abhivadaye.

'Sad' is a prefix used for 'good things', as in sadguru, sadiccha etc.

'Ika' is a atmanepadi verb meaning 'to be'.
Other forms of this are:
- 'Ike ikaavahe ikaamahe'
- 'Ikase ikethe ikadhve'
- 'Ikate ikete ikante'

Hence "Bhosadike" was a popular form of greeting in ancient India, before
the Moguls invaded India and prohibited it for some reason.

However some steadfast Indians continued to use this greeting. Therefore, to
asassinate this greeting morally, the Mughals gave it profane and vulgar
connotations, which unfortunately prevail even to this day.

It is time we revived our ancient Indian traditions heeding to the call of
the purists to go back to our ancient way of life.

*So, feel free to say "BHOSADIKE" to all the desi public you meet and should
you be questioned, do offer them the true, pure meaning*.
