Chennai Express: The Honey Singh Drama

I was surprised, and not pleasantly, when I heard Yo Yo Honey Singh was singing for Vishal-Shekhar in Chennai Express.

I am not against Honey Singh's rapping style. He's a talented guy who does sing well. But I have never liked the person that Honey Singh is, simply because of the way he deals with and talks about girls. So I was surprised, or say, shocked, when I heard Vishal-Shekhar, who have been known for their character more than their music, with especially Vishal, who is so vocal for social issues, are getting Honey Singh to sing for them. That too, with none other than SPB. Truth be told, I couldn't believe this.

For some time, I was thinking of asking Vishal and Shekhar on Twitter if this was really true, when I found out that the reports about Honey Singh singing for the movie were false, and apparently Shekhar himself made that clear.

That's great. Thanks V-S. Never mind Yo-Yo. I hope you too will leave the days of your bad name behind and be good someday soon.

Update: As you probably know already, Honey Singh is singing Lungi Dance in Chennai Express. In the words of an anonymous commenter, that's a big slap on my face. Not sure, though I hated the song like anything. Still, it's there on BollyMeaning. Btw, it's supposed to be a tribute to Rajinikanth Ji. I wonder if someone has asked the superstar how he liked it.

Update: As expected, this seems to have created an issue between Vishal-Shekhar and Shahrukh Khan, and the duo, originally the judges of Indian Idol Junior, were not present at the show in the episode where Shahrukh Khan came to promote Chennai Express.

Yes it is. Though Vishal-Shekhar never made him sing. I guess they never will. They know the piece of crap that rapper is. Anyway, never mind. I don't think you'd get it. Thanks for the comment. :)

I think your blog is so stupid..thats the only song in the movie which is catchy ..I am a fan of VS as well but don know why the melody in music is going down with every movie..am hoping SRK does not take the duo for his next movie..

Thanks for letting me know.

Keep mixing coconut in lassi if you liked it, and yes, call it a tribute.

As for Vishal-Shekhar, yes, it'd be great if SRK picks someone else, as V-S hardly get to make music with SRK n KJo types. The best of their music, say, Shanghai, Kahaani and Anjaana Anjaani to name a recent few, were none from the big banners. Big banners only get them to make mass stuff like Radha teri chunari. Thankfully nothing like your favorite Coconut Lassi though.

being from South India completely enjoyed the movie. Although it is not the best movie ever, it was fun to watch. Ppl who dont know Tamil would have found it difficult in most of the scenes. But entertainer nonetheless. And thanks to Shah Rukh's amazing promotional skills the movie has reached new heights. Congrats Shah Rukh :) Wonder how much Dhoom 3 is going to gross?

It is unfortunate that Lungi was desperately inserted by SRK and that too clandestinely. Not good for a lead actor to do such things.

On the other side, I don't prefer tthe song to be included as its a family entertainer movie.

SRK has to learn and respect professional ethics. Even after ban by MCA for his infamous stint during IPL, he is yet to learn.
